Linen Package – Cost £350
Our Linen package takes the form of a study of one side of your family tree – this could be your mother or father’s side. If you would like to look at both of your parent’s surnames, we suggest using our Silk Package which looks at both branches starting with your parents.
Whatever side of your family you have chosen, we allocate 8 hours of research time, which generally allows us to research back at least 3 to 4 generations if not a bit further. Our research depends on you providing enough information (ie Marriage Certificate or relevant birth or death dates) on your parents for us to use as a starting point.
We look at all appicable sources relevant to your request, using Scotlands People and NRS, local archives and any other useful source.
Our Linen Package includes:
- 8 Hours of Research online initially and in the National Records of Scotland
- Genealogical report on your chosen branch of the family.
- Copies or transcripts of documents gathered including official certificates where appropriate.
- Information from available census returns.
- Pedigree Family Tree Chart.
- A Gedcom file of your Family Tree.
The quoted price incudes, travel, admission price to archives when required, the cost of obtaining copies of registrar or parish record entires, and record printing costs. If you request certified copies of offical records we have to charge the £12 fee that NRS/ ScotlandsPeople charge per certificate. In most cases we can obtain copies of the register entry for £0.25 that we include in the package price.
- Reports For Linen & Silk packages, reports are provided as PDF files via electronic transfer. The report contains a full pedigree chart, a detailed ancestral list of all ancestors, dates, addresses, occupations where available, along with a people index.
- All data gathered can also be delivered on a USB pen drive if required at an extra cost of £10. If you wish, a printed and bound copy of the report will incur an extra charge (currently £45). A large A1 or A0 copy of your Family Tree can also be supplied – we can quote for this once the final report is prepared (due to fluctuating printing costs).
- We ask for a deposit of 50% to be paid before research to cover initial costs. The remaining 50% will be invoiced for payment before the final documents are handed over. Payment can be made by Bank Transfer or by card is meeting in person.
